About
About the Rental Property Owners Association
The RENTAL PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION OF MID-MICHIGAN (originally known as the “Landlords of Mid-Michigan” was established by leaders in the industry in 1971 who recognized the need to organize collectively to advance the standards of rental property ownership, to establish cooperative programs and services for the collective benefit of members, and to monitor the laws, rules and regulations that inhibit the ability of rental property owners to provide safe, affordable and suitable housing for a great segment of the population.
The RPOAMM mission is to advance the pursuit of rental property opportunity, ownership and value through valuable membership services and programs.

Governmental Affairs
While the affairs in Washington are more so focused on the construction side of property ownership and development it is the impact of the Michigan Housing Law and those ordinances adopted by almost every jurisdiction in the State that can “drive you crazy.” At times there is a fine line between safe and habitable living conditions and the goal to build the hometown budgets through ever increasing inspection fees, licenses. fines, add-ons, court costs and property taxes.
For these reasons RPOAMM is a founding member of the Rental Property Owners Association of Michigan LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. A portion of RPOAMM dues provides governmental representation for the member local chapters of rental property owner associations throughout the state. That’s why the work of the State Legislative Council is so critical to your future success, if not existence.
The RPOAMM Website provides valuable updates about laws and rules impacting rental property owners, and in the Legislative section of this Website is important reports and updates concerning legislation of concern and/or interest to all rental property owners in Michigan.
